Because most of the information is gathered from web sites and the listings are not updated as frequently as the web sites, dancers should visit the web sites for up-to-date information. Our square dance club will be doing line-dancing and squares for beginners, and demonstrating more advanced moves. Time: 7:30-10:00 PM. Blacksburg - Blacksburg United for Responsible Growth: There will be Barn Dance at the YMCA dance room from 7:00pm to 111:0pm. This dance is a fundraiser for BURG (Blacksburg United for Responsible Growth). This is not a contra dance - we'll be doing stuff like the Virginia Reel and circle dances. This is an opportunity to introduce new folks to dancing. Chantilly: Join St. Veronica Young Adults for their popular twice-a-year event, a DC area tradition, Contra and Swing Dance Night at the St. Veronica Parish Hall, 3460 Centreville Road, Chantilly, VA 20151, from 7:30 pm - 11:30 pm. Charlottesville - Callers' Workshop: Tom Hinds and Cville Contra are offering a 4-week Caller's Workshop beginning Tuesday, January 13th from 7:30-9:30pm. Greenwood - Club Contra: Dances mostly on 1st Sundays with an introductory lesson at 6:30pm, dance 7:00-10:00pm. Admission: Adults $9, Students $6, 12 and under Free. This high-energy community dancing with a cool dance club atmosphere and a DJ playing music that goes well beyond the traditional jigs and reels. Electronic, techno, house, electro-trad, disco, retro and classic rock ... all are possible. We have awesome club lighting including black lights and a powerful sound system with extra bass. We even provide glow sticks. The dances are easy to learn and loads of fun. We offer a brief orientation for first-time dancers a half hour before each event. Grand Caverns has a 200 year history of underground balls, and this dance recreates the early dances, with hundreds of candles illuminating the most spectacular cave on the east coast.
