Because most of the information is gathered from web sites and the listings are not updated as frequently as the web sites, dancers should visit the web sites for up-to-date information. Venue and dance information

Hilo - Paradise Park: Community Contra Dance and potluck at the Hawaiian Paradise Park Activity Center, between 16th 17th & Maku'u from 6:00pm to 9:30pm. Details: Potluck from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and contra dancing 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. A caller will teach and call all the dances, no experience is necessary. Couples, singles and families are welcome, fun for all. Alcohol free event. Bring a dish to share qnd comfortable clothes and shoes for dancing. Donations accepted to cover costs. Honolulu: The Contradancers of Hawai'i sponsor dances on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 7:30pm to 10:00pm at the Kapi'olani Community College (KCC) Chapel. The Chapel is at the edge of campus, near the Diamond Head Road entrance (approximate address - 4266 Diamond Head Road). The Chapel has a nice wooden floor, and there are lots of windows as well as some heavy-duty fans. Live music is provided by Whiskey Starship. Parking is available in a lot adjacent to the building. For information about getting to the Chapel by bus, click here. All dances are free! We depend on donations from dancers and friends to support this fun and healthy activity. Pahoa - Tropical Dance Vacation: A dance week created and organized by caller and musician George Marshall, usually held in February or March on the Big Island. Register in advance. Web site: http://www.tropicaldancevacation.com/.

Pahoa - Special Public Dance: Evening dance held during Wild Asparagus' Tropical Vacation Week. Location: Kalani. For $10 you can attend the dance starting with a beginner's workshop at 7:00. If you are relatively new to contra dancing, it would be quite advisable to arrive by 7:00. The dancing starts at 7:30 and is followed by snacks when the dance is over - probably about 10:30 or so. Pahoa - Hawaiian Sanctuary: Location: Hawaiian Sanctuary outside of Pahoa. The Sanctuary will be a wonderful venue with a wood floor and good acoustics. It is located about 1 mile south of Pahoa, the first right past the 12 mile marker. $5 charge to cover venue costs. There will be a dance workshop 6:30 to 7:00, please arrive by 6:30 if you are relatively new to contra dancing. Dancing continues 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. Please bring clean, smooth soled shoes or socks or clean bare feet to protect the dance floor. Please bring snacks to share. Questions? 965-8685. Web site: None.
